Metaboards strengthens management team
18 June 2018 – Oxford: Oxford-based metamaterials start-up Metaboards has today announced the appointment of Ben Bartram as its Head of Engineering. The appointment represents Metaboards’ continued commitment to bringing to market its next generation technology and bolstering the management team.
Bartram joins Metaboards with more than 20 years of engineering experience focusing on the mobile technology industry at companies including Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Qualcomm.
Commenting on the appointment, Metaboards CEO Nedko Ivanov said: “Ben’s appointment reflects the company’s commitment in bringing to market our revolutionary, patented wireless charging technology. Ben’s industry knowledge and expertise of developing products will be invaluable in positioning Metaboards as a leader in the wireless charging industry,” he added.
Bartram’s appointment closely follows the appointments of Nedko Ivanov as CEO and Pete Hutton as Chairman. Ivanov joined the company in January 2018 having previously been the CEO of Redux, where he achieved a successful exit for the company in August 2017. Hutton was previously president of product groups at ARM, where he was responsible for all product development, marketing and licensing, covering 3,500 staff globally.

Metaboards was founded in 2016 by world leading professors and authors from Oxford University focusing on Metamaterials, currently one of the most dynamic scientific research areas. The company’s technology makes it possible to charge tablets, games consoles and controllers, computers and any other non-metal electronic device at the same time and on the same surface.
Bartram started his new role on Monday 11 June 2018.
