Metaboards announces the appointment of Nimrata Boora as CFO

6 August 2018 – Oxford: Oxford-based metamaterials start-up Metaboards has today announced the appointment of Nimrata Boora as its Chief Financial Officer.

Boora joins Metaboards with significant experience in senior financial positions at technology companies including HiWave Technologies and most recently, Redux, where she contributed to a successful exit for the company in August 2017. Her arrival ensures the company has the executive team to drive future growth.

Commenting on the appointment, Metaboards CEO Nedko Ivanov said: “Nimrata’s extensive background in corporate finance and strategy, combined with her knowledge of technology start-ups will be extremely beneficial as we grow the business.”

Boora’s appointment closely follows the announcement that Metaboards received investment of $5 million, led by science equity investor, Oxford Sciences Innovation (OSI) with additional funds from investors RT Capital Management Inc and Woodford Investment Management Ltd. The financing will be used to fund Metaboards’ continued expansion and to bring to market its patented, state-of-the-art wireless power technology.

Boora said: “It is a really exciting time to be joining Metaboards as the company develops and progresses with its ambitious plans for the future. I am looking forward to helping the company accelerate its ongoing efforts and objectives.”

Metaboards was founded in 2016 by world leading professors and authors from Oxford University focusing on Metamaterials, currently one of the most dynamic scientific research areas. The company’s technology makes it possible to charge tablets, games consoles and controllers, computers and any other non-metal electronic device at the same time and on the same surface.

Boora started her new role in July 2018.

About Metaboards

Based in Oxford, UK, Metaboards is a pioneer in metamaterials – the science of creating materials in certain shapes, sizes or orientations to give it unique properties that would not be found in nature – in this case the ability to wirelessly charge devices.  The company is creating new and highly flexible ways to embed wireless charging into surfaces so that multiple items can be charged simultaneously without the need for close alignment or multiple power supplies. This transforms the functionality of wireless charging.
