Tech Talk: tackling wireless power transfer with metamaterials
If you are planning to attend Metanano 2018 in Sochi this September, come along and hear first-hand from our head of Science and Technology, Dr Irina Khromova, about the latest advancements in metamaterials.
Metanano 2018 is an annual international conference on metamaterials and nanophotonics and covers all aspects of metamaterials from quantum phenomena and nanophotonics to MRI and microwave applications. The event takes place at the Sirius Art and Science Park in Sochi, Russia from Monday 17 – Friday 21 September 2018 and brings together some of the most influential researchers and scientific leaders from around the world.
Irina’s tech talk, titled ‘Metamaterials for Wireless Power and Data Transfer’ will take place on Friday 21 September at 13h50.
During the talk, Irina will discuss:
- The fundamental challenges presented in wireless power transfer and how metamaterials can help overcome them
- How to transfer power and data using existing metamaterials made of coupled resonant elements
- Cutting-edge technology that allows for power and data transfer across large surfaces
- Metaboards’ vision and outlook towards creating advanced power and data technologies and bringing metamaterials to market
Irina will also be chairing a session titled ‘Metamaterials II’ which takes place on Thursday 20 September from 15h40 until 17h25.
Metanano 2018 is the go-to event for researchers working in the fields of nanoscience, metamaterials, photonics and related topics, providing opportunities to share research. The conference is organised by the Nanophotonics and Metamaterials Department of the ITMO University and is supported by Mediterranean Institute of Fundamental Physics.
